Long Term Disablity – Long term disability picks
up where short term stops. Ie – the 0/7/26 plan after the 26 weeks, there is no more
disability coverage. So if someone, for example, had a car
wreck and was out for 9 months for rehabilitation then the last 3
months would not be covered. If they had a long term
disability plan that had a 180 day elimination period it would pick up
when the short term disability stopped. Most long
term disability either pays for 5 years or until they reach age
65.
