As a company who hires quality employees, you are looking for the best
benefits package for those employees. We also know
that, in these times, it has become harder for you the employer to be
able to provide these benefits to your employees. Many
employers are now moving towards voluntary/employee paid
benefits. Statistics show even though the employee is paying
for the benefit, having it offered means something to them.
Voluntary/employee paid benefits have been around for over 20 years,
but not till recently have they become more popular. As the
employer, all you have to do is allow us time to offer these benefits
to your employees. Depending on the product, we
would either do group presentations and take care of 25 to 30 employees
at a time or some products are best if done on a one on one basis.
Long Term Disablity – Long term disability picks
up where short term stops. Ie in the example above
– the 0/7/26 plan after the 26 weeks, there is no more
disability coverage. So if someone, for example, had a car
wreck and was out for 9 months for rehabilitation then the last 3
months would not be covered. If they had a long term
disability plan that had a 180 day elimination period it would pick up
when the short term disability stopped. Most long
term disability either pays for 5 years or until they reach age 65.
